Early life and education
Sicily Kanini Kariuki was born in Kangaru Village, Manyatta constituency, in present-day Embu County in Kenya.[4]
Kariuki has a bachelor's degree, from the University of Nairobi.

Career before politics
Kariuki enjoyed a wide-ranging career in the business world, including as an officer of the Kenya Investment Authority, and as main person executive officer of Fresh Yield Exporters Association of Kenya.[5]
Kariuki then served as the Managing Director and CEO of "Tea Board of Kenya".
In , while at the helm of the tea board, the tea industry rose to become the uppermost earner of foreign exchange in the country, accounting for KSh billion (approx. Political career
